We built Coyote Fastpitch Club to raise the standard for players - and for the people who lead them. Our coaches believe in the work, live the standard, and are fully committed to every player in the pack.
We expect players to give there all, all of the time. They should expect the same from us.
Coaching for me is an avenue to make a difference.
Lead off batter, shaking in her boots, feeling the
pressure to bust the game open for her team. I said, “Who is this kid? I don't even recognize you." I made the scared wide eyed face that she had - and she instantly giggled and smiled.
"Don't let that other kid come back, I need YOU here right now."
She led off with a single, and was standing on thrid two pitches later. Instilling confidence and helping kids be themselves in high pressure situations will always be the best feeling.
I got thrown out for "Running my mouth." After the game, the batter asked me why. I told her I did exactly what i coach them not to do - I let my emotions take control. she looked at me with big eyes and said,
If I had an opportunity to do it differently... I wouldn't.
Zach is the guy who is going to say it like it is. No cream filling, no cherry on top. It is what it is, with facts and details to back it up.
More importantly, if he brings up a problem, he has solutions in mind.
Jesse brings motivation in the form of words that kids understand, and it flows and builds as the day goes on.
There's a bigger message that transcends softball, and carries a deeper message that girls can carry off the field.
We hold oursleves to the same standard we hold
our players to. We don't just teach it. We live it.
The standard isn't something we talk about - it's something we prove everyday.
We invest in our coaches so they can invest in our players. We share ideas, hold each other accountable, and push each other to grow. We don't have all the answers - but we'll never stop looking for them.
Every rep. Every pitch. Every conversation. Every decision we make is for their growth, for their dreams, and for their future.
We don't take that lightly.
We never will.
This is why we do it.
This is the pack.
